• "Rachel’s bright smile and infectious laugh can immediately take your day to the next level…in a good way! In the hot room, she is always challenging her students but making sure we are being respectful to our minds and bodies. “Eat wholesome foods and surround yourself with genuine people”. That is what Rachel said a lot at the end of class. It’s simple and it works! Rachel makes things that seem really hard, and sometimes they are, simple or at least; not as hard. I believe that is the definition of a great teacher. If anyone is lucky enough to take her class, you will not forget it. You will walk out feeling great and will definitely be in a better mood than you were when you first walked into class.

  • "Rachel is just the best yoga teacher. No matter where you are in your yoga journey, whether you’re new to the practice or have been at it for years, Rachel meets you there. She creates such a positive environment in the yoga room. She has a smile in her voice! Her classes are warm and welcoming and foster a true community. Then there’s Pilates - and it’s such fun! Rachel is so well prepared, professional, and has great playlist. Her enthusiasm is contagious, her knowledge is broad, and I’d take her class absolutely any time!"

  • "I have known Rachel as a fellow yoga practitioner and then studio owner for over seven years. She has been my teacher and mentor over these years and has taught me more than I can express in a short paragraph. Rachel is an amazing example of what it means to be a "yogi" in multiple roles. As a student, she exhibits discipline and self awareness, leading others by her example when taking yoga classes. As a teacher, she provides knowledge and an experienced eye for posture alignment and safety when guiding her students through yoga or pilates classes, always teaching from a place of caring and having the students' best interests in mind. As a studio owner, Rachel is fair with her guidance and generous with her time and attention to making the studio space as well as the staff continually improve and thrive. She is a great motivator of both students and teachers, allowing us to believe in ourselves and always to strive for more than we think we are capable of! Rachel makes everyone SMILE. I have heard over and over again from our fellow students that "Rachel is the heart of the studio," guiding and teaching with acceptance, love, strength, and FUN. You will ALWAYS feel better physically, mentally, and in EVERY way after taking her classes."

  • "Rachel IS yoga! Her teaching is compassionate, energetic, and challenging, but you always leave the room feeling more loved and capable than when you arrived. She is both a technically gifted teacher (understanding anatomy, the way a body moves in space, injury prevention, etc) and a spiritually uplifting presence who will guide you through whatever class you want to have that day. I could truly have a “Rachel” class every day and get something different from her each time!"

  • "Throughout nine years of hot yoga classes with Rachel, I was always excited to see her name in the teacher's slot. Rachel's classes have such an energy and spark, she kept me engaged and focused all 60-90 minutes on staying safe and getting strong. She seems to be the epitome of the paradoxical "ease and effort" mentality by giving me permission to meet myself where I was, but then gently encouraging me to see if there's a little bit more I could find. She kept me curious about what the class holds for my body and mind, and encouraged me to love myself in finding out. Rachel also built a community in the Richmond studio that is so close, it feels like a family. Coming into the studio and seeing her always felt like coming home to family because she was interested in finding out about all of us in little chats before or after classes. The space she created around the studio was cozy and inviting, and she fostered an environment where she would engage multiple people into one conversation. I always felt included, and loved seeing friendships blossom there. Rachel is one of the best teachers I have had the honor to take classes with, and the Richmond yoga community will feel her loss deeply but we know that more of the world deserves to experience her joy and energy.
